NFS

If you shut down an NFS server before un-mounting its clients the clients may hang !
If you have done this
  1. Start up / recreate NFS server (with same IP address)
  2. Remount client at exactly same mount point
# cat /proc/mounts

  1. Cleanly umount client mount point
  2. Now you can safely shutdown NFS server
